Getting started
Who is Happy Charlie for?
Happy Charlie is a baby tracker for parents and other adult caregivers of babies: partners, grandparents, nannies. Each account holder must be an adult where they live. A younger family member may help on an adult's account with that adult's permission.
How do I sign in?
You sign in to Happy Charlie with Google (Android and the web), with Apple (iPhone, Android and the web), or with a one-time code sent to your email. There's no password to create.
Which devices does it work on?
Happy Charlie works on iPhone and Android phones, and in any modern web browser.
Is there a web version?
Yes. The Happy Charlie web tracker has the same records and permissions as the phone app. On the web you type entries rather than speak them, there are no reminders, and it needs a connection.
Where is it available?
Happy Charlie is available in the United States.
Sharing with family
How does someone join my family?
A family administrator sends them a private invite link from the Happy Charlie app. Each link works once and expires. They sign in with their own account.
What's the difference between an administrator and a caregiver?
In Happy Charlie, administrators and caregivers both log and see every record. Administrators also invite and remove members, manage children, and export, import or delete records. See the full list.
What happens when someone leaves?
When someone leaves a family in Happy Charlie, their access ends. The records stay with the family, still showing who logged them.
Does it work offline?
The Happy Charlie phone app works offline. Entries save right away and sync when the phone is back online. The web version needs a connection.
Logging and voice
How does one-sentence logging work?
In Happy Charlie you type or say a sentence such as “Theo had 4 oz of formula at 3 pm”. The app shows what it understood, and nothing is saved until you confirm. More.
Can I track solid foods?
Yes. Happy Charlie tracks solid foods: turn on Solids for your baby when your family starts. Record each meal's foods, how much, and how it went, and see every food tried. More.
Do you keep voice recordings?
No. Happy Charlie turns speech into text and doesn't store the audio.
Does it work with Siri or Google Assistant?
Not yet. Siri and Google Assistant support for Happy Charlie is coming.
Milestones and trends
Does Happy Charlie give medical advice?
No. Happy Charlie records, totals and compares what you log. It doesn't diagnose or tell you what is normal. Talk with your pediatrician about your baby's health.
Does Happy Charlie say whether my baby is on track?
No. Happy Charlie milestones keep the dates you record and show the ages published sources give for most babies, as general information. Nothing compares your baby with them. More.
Your data and privacy
Who can see my baby's records?
In Happy Charlie, the members of your family see your baby's records. The privacy notice lists the service providers that run the app and what each receives.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No. Happy Charlie doesn't sell your data. There are no ads and no advertising or tracking tools in the app or on this site.
Can I export my data?
Yes. A Happy Charlie family administrator can export every record as CSV and JSON files, for one baby or all. More.
Switching from another app
Can I bring my history from another app?
Yes. Happy Charlie imports Nara Baby and Huckleberry export files, and from a Happy Charlie export. You preview everything before it's saved. How.
No-cost
Is it free?
Yes. Every Happy Charlie feature is free today, with no limit on history. More.
Account and deletion
How do I delete my account?
Your Happy Charlie account is in the app, not on this website. Delete it in the app, or from the web tracker's account deletion page.
How do I report a problem?
