In Happy Charlie

  1. Turn on

    Settings, then AI assistants. Turn on AI assistants.

  2. Copy

    Copy the address (URL) under Connect an assistant: https://app.happy-charlie.com/mcp

  3. Open

    On a computer, open Gemini or Claude, and follow its steps below.

Gemini

  1. Add a custom app, paste the address (URL), then Next.
  2. Sign in to Happy Charlie and tap Allow.
  3. In a chat, type @ and pick Happy Charlie.

Needs a personal Google account (not work or school), 18 or older, in the U.S., in English, with Keep Activity on. A free account may work.*

Claude

claude.ai/customize/connectors

  1. Add, then Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Happy Charlie, paste the address (URL), then Add.
  3. Sign in to Happy Charlie when asked and tap Allow.
  4. In a chat, open + then Connectors, and turn on Happy Charlie.

A free account holds one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it.*

Then check AI assistants in Happy Charlie: “Last read” means it worked.

If it doesn't work

  • Gemini has no Connected Apps? Look under Personal Intelligence.
  • Gemini has no custom apps? Turn on Keep Activity, and use a personal account.
  • Claude won't add it? A free account holds one custom connector. Remove the other first.
  • Claude doesn't use it? In the chat, open + then Connectors, and turn on Happy Charlie.
  • “AI assistants are off for your account”? Turn them on in Settings, then AI assistants, and try again.
  • It stopped working? A connection unused for 30 days ends. Connect again.

What it reads

  • Babies' names and birth dates
  • Feeds, pumping, sleep, diapers, solids, tummy time, and growth
  • Every family you're in, including what others entered
  • Never medicines, temperatures, health notes, notes, food reactions, milestones, caregivers' names, photos, or history

Who has it

  • Your records go to the assistant's company, which keeps and uses them under its own terms. Its website has the details.
  • Its answers are its own, not Happy Charlie's.
  • Disconnect any time: Settings, then AI assistants.
  • Disconnecting stops your AI assistant from reading your records. Your past chats stay with the assistant. To delete them use the assistant's delete function.

How it connects

Happy Charlie runs an MCP server, at https://app.happy-charlie.com/mcp. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI chatbots use to connect to other apps. It signs you in with OAuth, and it can only read.

Another chatbot that can add a remote MCP server by its address (URL) may work too. We've checked Gemini and Claude.
